Titebond Wood Glue
We originally used Titebond III wood glue and that is shown in the video. We found that Titebond III gets its strength by being able to flex before breaking. This property can case the barrel to warp out of round during the stretch or in the 3 or 4 days afterwards when the skin is drying. We have switched to Titebond Original, in the red bottle. This glue will hold until it snaps. We are now using a rim reinforcement in our process. However, we made one drum without reinforcement and glued with Titebond Original. That drum held the round shape and did not distort or crack on any stave joint. We now recommend using Titebond Original glue.
