Marking the Staves

This PDF can be downloaded and shows the way we mark each of the staves. The measurements are 3.5 inches from the top and bottom rims and then the barrel center. These are calculated to line up where we will put the biscuits. We leave the space at the top and bottom of the barrel so that when the tacks are nailed in, they will not hit the biscuit area. It is somewhat overkill, but we write the adjacent stave numbers in as well, to help keep track once the rings are off and they are all out on the workbench.
